« So there's this horrible thing called Being Really Crazy Sick. | Main | First finish of 2013!! »

Oh Hello 2013.

Unfortunately I greet you still ILL but I am now able to spend most of the day in a completely upright position so that's fun. I don't go back to work until the 7th, altho I have two freelance thingies and a TON of grading to do before then, so I'm taking today to wrap up some thoughts and maybe even finish a baby quilt, WE SHALL SEE.

So here's a look at some of the homebody stuff I did this year:

Finished in 2012!!
(Links to individual projects listed at the bottom of this post.)

I also saw 34 movies in the theater (that doesn't count the ones I saw more than once, or the ones on DVD, etc.), read 112 books, and went to a measly 4 concerts (concerts cost $$$, said the sad panda).

I'm finally working again after 2.5 years in grad school (a second time! my two Master's degrees are 17 years apart!!) and 9 months unemployed afterward, but I'm unfortunately going to be stuck in a deep dark hole of financial hell for a few years to come. If anybody comes into any inheritances they want to share, I'm right here!

It was definitely one of the worst years of my life (unemployment and poverty SUCK and are VERY STRESSFUL, as you might know), right up there with "frozen shoulder year" and I guess I always thought that by my 40s I'd have all this job/life/ability to pay my rent/happiness stuff worked out. I GUESS NOT, said the universe. Ah, well.

Moving on. I had melty hot pizza and cold Cold Duck last night while home alone watching (old, via Netflix) TV and working on a quilt binding. Yeah that's pretty much going out the way I plan on going on. And now for the going on bit.

Cheers, readers. It's nice that you still stop by after all these (10 blogging) years.

happy new year caroline. i hope 2013 brings you good things. i can totally relate to your post about expectations and then the curve ball life throws a person. put the past behind, but dont forget how much you learned from it. ten years of blogging, or not blogging. either way you look at it, it has been an interesting/mundane/awesome/terrible decade all around.
