First finish of 2013!!

A quilt for my friend Carlos' son Sam.

NewBee Green quilt is done!!!

It's made entirely of scraps -- the background green was Cinnamon's and the rest are from quilts I've made previously. The back is pieced scraps, the binding is pieced scraps, and the batting was pieced from leftovers as well!

Pieced back.

It measured 51 x 41 post washing. I finished the top last February and finally made the quilt sandwich sometime in...the fall? I wish I would have been able to get to the quilting of it two weeks ago for a 2012 finish but unfortunately deathly illness took care of that possibility.

I free-motion quilted it for the first time in a long time, just BIG loopy loops and spirals etc.

Really loving how the quilting came out!

Super busy fabric works well with a busy quilting pattern.

I'm super happy with how this turned out!!! Now I can move on to basting the quilt sandwich of another top I finished many months ago... :)

On the floor.

You can see all four fabrics used in the Frankenbinding here.

This is totally kickass!!! I especially love the loop-d-loop quilting. Adorable and so nicely crinkly!

Okay. I eat my words. That fabric is awesome for this quilt. Broken up into smaller pieces it works great. As with so many things. You're smarter than I. :) Congrats on making a great quilt. (I know I'm posting this comment months late. But I suck and you knew that already.)
