Oh No!! Not another one! Nooooo. Ha ha ha ha.
A Movie Meme! Stolen from Jen, the unimitatable, Garrett.
1. Name a movie that you have seen more than 10 times.
Rear Window. The Matrix. Walk the Line. Wind. Win a Date with Tad Hamilton. Ladder 49. Point Break. Desperately Seeking Susan. Speed. Reality Bites. A Lot Like Love. EdTV. Some Like It Hot. A Few Good Men. The Firm. Pelican Brief. She Wore a Yellow Ribbon. Out of Sight. The Wild Bunch. Streets of Fire. There are so many, I think I'll stop there.
2. Name a movie that you’ve seen multiple times in the theater.
The Matrix. Many, many, many times. Walk the Line. The Thomas Crown Affair (Brosnan/Russo version). The Departed. Little Miss Sunshine. Again, I have often been a repeat attender so I'll just let it go at those.
3. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to see a movie.
Joaquin Phoenix. Keanu Reeves. Hugh Grant. Sandra Bullock. Paul Newman. Cary Grant. George Clooney. Billy Crudup. Drew Barrymore.
4. Name an actor that would make you less likely to see a movie.
Renee Zellweger. Gwyneth Paltrow. Mel Gibson (well before his recent contretemps). Jennifer Aniston (not really because of HER per se but because 90% of her movies suck. She makes bad choices!).
5. Name a movie that you can and do quote from.
Godfather, of course. Doh. Wind. The Presidio. Sweet Home Alabama.
6. Name a movie musical that you know all of the lyrics to all of the songs
[In agreement with Jen: Sound of Music]. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
7. Name a movie that you have been known to sing along with
See #6. Also Garden State, of all things because there are so many songs on it I know so well. I don't necessarily sing out loud so others can hear but if I'm watching it alone. Also the Tiny Dancer scene in Almost Famous and the If You Leave Me Now scene in A Lot Like Love.
8. Name a movie that you would recommend everyone see.
Rear Window. Chariots of Fire. Sliding Doors. Three Days of the Condor.
9. Name a movie that you own.
See everything in #1 and #2 and #5 and #8 and and then a whole bunch of others.
10. Name an actor that launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops.
Jennifer Lopez but ONLY in "Out of Sight" one of the greatest movies ever. She rocks in that. Anything else I've seen her in, she's basically sucked just as bad as her music.
11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in? If so, what?
Yes a bunch but don't know which ones. Remember one vaguely being named something like "Down the River" or "Up the River" that we went to "see" (makeout in the car but pretend you are there for the movie so your parents let you go) a few times one week. [There was a drive-in still operating in a neighboring town while I was in high school in the 80s.]
12. Ever made out in a movie?
See #11.
13. Name a movie that you keep meaning to see but just haven’t yet gotten around to it.
Shawshank Redemption (unlikely to ever see [as per the reasons on this list], but technically I consider it sometimes). And don't bother leaving me 100 comments about how I NEED to see it. Don't you think that's been tried before?
14. Ever walked out of a movie?
Yes. The Bachelor (Chris O'Donnell). So so so fucking stupid.
15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theater.
As I'm a cryer, there are many, but the ones that made the people with me sort maybe kinda worry a little bit that I might never stop crying? Philadelphia. Sommersby. (And I can't really rewatch those.)
16. Popcorn?
Yes, please. And oftentimes with M&Ms poured into it.
17. How often do you go to the movies (as opposed to renting them or watching them at home)?
Less than I used to, but still at least two or three times a month. And preferably more.
18. What’s the last movie you saw in the theater?
The Lives of Others.
19. What’s your favorite/preferred genre of movie?
I like all kinds except super psychologically terrifying movies.
20. What’s the first movie you remember seeing in the theater?
Well, I don't remember it, but apparently I went to see MASH in the theater shortly after birth. And I've been told many stories about how I freaked the fuck out in 101 Dalmations (altho the last time I told this story, I thought it was Bambi and got corrected) because altho I was old enough to understand what was going on I was NOT old enough to understand that it wasn't REAL. I really thought the puppies were all going to be skinned and made into a coat for Cruella. And apparently (again I thought this was during the forest fire during Bambi when Bambi is all lost and alone, but perhaps not) I kept screaming SHE JUST WANTS HER MOMMY!!! WHERE IS HER MOMMY!!! and my parents kept saying "carolyn, carolyn, it isn't real..." I was, what, 3? 4?
As to what I remember... (if you remember that I have the world's shittiest memory), I remember seeing... Star Wars. Of course. I'm in the age bracket where you have to know that's the likeliest answer. And Taps (!!). I remember sitting separately from my parents and brother with one of my friends, and then being horrified to see my parents were holding hands on the way out!! IMDB says it came out in 1981 so I'd seen many many movies by that time but that's the one that really stands out in my mind. I have literally been going to movies since a few weeks after I was born due to the pop's obsession: My dad LOVES the movies and by "loves" I mean "loves them even fucking more than me!!"
21. What movie do you wish you had never seen?
Unleashed. (you can click the same link from shawshank redemption earlier)
22. What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed?
Weirdest. Hmmm. Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back has got its weird moments. And its fucking hilarious ones.
23. What is the scariest movie you’ve seen?
I do not know the name of it but I saw it when I was about 5 or 6. I was at my grandma's house, and she would let me watch whatever I wanted, and sometimes I guess she wouldn't necessarily be keeping very strict track of what was showing on the screen* and I was watching TV and somehow caught part of this horror movie (or at least it was horrible to me) and I had nightmares for weeks afterward. And then for years later as a kid, every time I got sick or had a fever, I would again have nightmares about it. My dad was pissed to say the least.
So anyway, in the movie, this woman was on stage (maybe she wasin a play? or she was an actress and was there rehearsing?) and she gets hot oil poured on her face and it caused all these really horrible scars and everywhere she went after that, she wore a mask over her face. And then she tries to kill the people who did it to her? I think?
*maybe she left the room for a minute and I changed the channel? no idea. I remember the horrifying scene that filled my nightmares for years afterward but I don't remember anything of HOW I saw it and have just been told this story many times now especially that my parents love to torture me with dumb things I did as a kid.
24. What is the funniest movie you’ve seen?
[Agree with Jen's pick: Flirting with Disaster.] Ishtar. The last 10 minutes of Little Miss Sunshine. Best in Show. The scene in Hitch where Alfred shows Will Smith his dance movies (plus the deleted bit of that on the DVD). Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Clerks II.
Dudes. I fucking love the movies.

Your 101 Dalmations story (and Bambi story) are eerily similar to mine with "The Aristocats" . . . apparently when my parents took me to see it (I was maybe 3 or 4), I went hysterical during the "hiding the kittens in the disused oven" scene and screamed "MOMMY, NOOO! THEY'RE COOKING THE KITTYCATS!". Had to be taken out of the theater because I was inconsolable.

ahh, that's better! and i get the pain and agony thing - the older i get, the harder it is to watch these things. i thought we were supposed to get tougher with age!

I thought Flirting with Disaster was hilarious when I saw it in the theater but like Jen, the next couple of times, not so much. Why is that?
How about what movie you thought was brilliant the first time and now can't imagine what the hell you were thinking. Case in point for me - The Piano.
