Three unrelated winter items. Winter, winter. WINTER!
1) I am in love with this picture.
2) The Harpold Advent calendar is up again this year. Yea!
3) A holiday meme snagged from Amy's cousin.
Scarily I sound quite religious in this meme but that's not really something I want to be involved with, at least not most of the time. That's just what the Holidays ARE to me.
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate, no contest.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree? Christmas is about Jesus' birth. THERE IS NO SANTA.
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? I was born before this namby pamby white light bullshit came around. They didn't HAVE white lights when I was a kid!
4. Do you hang mistletoe? Why bother?
5. When do you put your decorations up? Not until about the third week of Advent. Christmas BEGINS on Christmas and goes for the next 12 days until epiphany. And even once the nativity set goes up, Jesus doesn't go in the manger until Christmas morning.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish? Sweet potato casserole, same as at Thanksgiving.
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Singing Adeste Fideles at the late night Christmas Eve mass surrounded by candles and shadows and wreaths and my mom and dad's voices singing next to me.
8 . When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I have known about that since before I can remember. I am my mother's daughter after all.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? As a kid, we only got to open one or two presents a day each of the 12 days of Christmas. I can't remember if we got to open one on the Eve. And unless I am home and there to get them in person, my presents from my parents do not generally arrive until a few months after Christmas.
10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? My parents' tree is decorated with every damn Christmas ornament me or my brother EVER made. Including ones made of, say, a piece of wood with three screws and two bolts glued onto it. My own tree is decorated with the ornaments everyone has sent me in the last three years after the movers LOST ALL MY MANY MANY YEARS OF CHRISTMAS STUFF WHEN I MOVED TO CHICAGO. I will never forget that. Sadly.
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE. Love.
12. Can you ice skate? Yes, I can, and pretty impressively, unless I'm skating next to Amy. But sadly I can only cross-over turn w/ the right leg forward, not the left. It makes me crazy but who has time to practice ice skating these days?
13. Do you remember your favorite gift? I think it was the Barbie bubble bath/bathroom set that I got two of one year.
14. What's your favorite thing about the holidays? Music, magic, memories. I get very choked up.
15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? I love all desserts, all times of year. Don't think we have any specific Christmas ones.
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? This little candle dealybop where the candles make the hanging angels above them spin and the angels have little strands hanging down that make the bells ring as they spin. But it gets really annoying about 10 minutes later.
17. What tops your tree? An angel.
18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving? Tough call. I'm a pretty damn good gift giver as some could attest. And as to receiving...well it's a toss up. Sometimes good people give you bad presents. But when they give you good ones, there's no comparison.
19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Adeste Fideles a.k.a. O Come All Ye Faithful . And my favorite advent song is O Come O Come Emmanuel.
20. Candy canes yuck or yum? Stirred into hot chocolate = yum. On their own = not so much.
21. What's number one on your Christmas list this year? Chicago Bears trip to the Superbowl!
Now I'm going to go tromp around in the snow with my friend's dog Zeena and our cameras! Ciao!

Crossovers are always easiest one direction or the other...for me going counterclockwise has always been easier Now, back crossovers...there's some fun stuff right there.

Back crossovers really fast in both directions like meaning a figure eight on the ice is my most favorite thing to do while skating. I make Sandi do it with me at the end of a practice and she is like what are you nuts I am tired!! :) But yeah I blame the crossovers in one direction thing to public ice, i mean everyone always has to go the one way of the crowd so how is one going to learn the other way really?!

Our tree was decorated on Christmas eve and we did the same thing with the nativity set. We also moved the three wise men closer until Epiphany. My sibs and I got so into it that we started putting them three rooms away. (long trip, ya know!)
