Eh, whatever.
I did not sign up for NaBloPoMo, but honestly I am far more likely to be a "winner" at that than at NaNoWriMo where my goal is just to add on a few more pages to the 3000 I wrote in 2003 (yes, the goal is 50,000. that's why I wasn't a winner then and I don't expect to be one now).
For example, we could talk about how even though it's only 39 outside (not cold enough!), my office is just frigid...unless you turn the heat up to something ridiculous like 78. Why is it that office buildings are completely unable to regulate hot and cold? In the winter, you have to dress for winter on the outside, but be prepared to strip down inside. In summer, you'll be sweating to death on your commute, but freeeeeezing in the office. Why? Seriously I thought temperature regulation inside buildings was one of those things we've known how to do since, oh, I don't know, THE ROMANS.
My apartment's heat/cold situation is irregular as well because I have tons of windows. So if it's gloomy outside, it's gloomy inside. If it's sunny out, whether hot or cold, my apartment is generally pretty toasty. Post Oct 17 when the heat comes on, until say January when it gets really cold, my apartment is a SAUNA. Because the heat has only one temperature/control, and that's FULL ON. So when it's hovering in the 30s/40s outside, the heat is on so high that it's (actually) 80 or 90 degrees in there. I know because I keep a thermometer in what is technically the "coldest" room so I can reassure myself that I'm not insane or having premature hot flashes and it is indeed HOT. However, when it gets down to about 10, while it's still livable in my apartment, it no longer feels HOT. Because the full-on heat that's been on even when it was 30 out no longer feels hot when it's 10 out. It's still "warm" as in "inside and not out in the cold" but it's not the steambath it is say RIGHT NOW where if I invite you over to watch a movie, you'd do well to bring a pair of shorts with ya.
Oh and that's all just during the day. The heat, apparently, goes completely OFF at night and does not turn on before I leave in the morning. Which sucks for say putting your bare foot into the cold porcelain tub to take a shower. If I were home mid-day, I might have to put on a swimsuit.
Yes, all temperatures referred to here are Farenheit. I'm not down with you Celsius freaks. Hello, I live IN THE UNITED STATES so why would I be?
So how funny is this: I am wearing the same shirt I wore yesterday. That is soooo something I would whisper about to coworkers, were I to see someone else doing it, were I to work in the same office as any of my coworkers. Thing is, I had to get up around 4:30 (or I had to snooze from 4:30 to 4:59 when I jumped upright with the "OH SHIT I MIGHT BE LATE" feeling), and when I got out of the shower, I saw this comfy pink shirt lying on the dresser and thought "Oh sweet, I laid out clothes last night."
Um no, that would not be what happened. I took clothes off last night, left them out, and this morning was too asleep to recognize they were the same ones I wore yesterday. Isn't that hilarious? Doesn't that make you want to be around me in the mornings? Because the grumpy groachy stay-the-fuck-away-from-me mood that goes with the being asleep and forced to get up and not happy about it thing... It's quite fun. Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
What else?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONICA. and Happy Anniversary to my parents who are now married one more year than I am old. It takes them a good 10 months to beat me, and they will only be ahead for 3. So I was either significantly early or shall we say a wee bit not according to the master plan. :)
Tonight: hair "trim" (between cuts) & french.
Tomorrow: Citizen Cope
Friday: check out new photo club and go see museum exhibit?
Saturday: nothing, thank pete. lots o' quiltin' plans.
Sunday: work. or kill myself. both are equally appetizing.
See, when am I supposed to be writing during all that?
That is all. Enjoy your day. Hopefully it's warm where you are!

Crazy freaking boilers--I'll assume you have a boiler in the basement/radiator type arrangement. I had that in NYC and was a dessicated stick by the end of winter. I had to buy a humdifier. Too dumb of a system to be believed.

It's so warm here you don't need a jacket.
Happy parents anniversary!

Lucky me, my office is frigid year-round!
And we were so shocked by the cost of heating our house here (after 4 years of free heat in Chicago), that we just keep the damn thing at 68. I wear lots of sweaters...

See I'm crazy and signed up for both and I don't know when I'm going to get to them. So far today I've posted and only written 120 words which you know is far short of my 2,000 words a day goal. Tomorrow I shall speak on the blog as to why today sucked! I shall save that though to accomplish what I want to do!

Why in tarnation were you getting up at 4:30? You don't do that everyday, do you?
I, too, had an apartment that only had full-on heat or nothing. And I couldn't even control it; the lady across the courtyard did. As a result I kept the windows and doors open all winter and confused the pedestrians. This was before I moved to Anchorage, of course.

I love the sweetness of your sleepy self thinking that your night before self had taken care of your clothing needs!
