"Self" portrait taken by someone else.

Back, back in the day. In several different ways.

I just saw some cool photos of a violinist's hands and the accompanying text mentioned how paranoid she is that something will happen to them.

Did you know my plan (at one time) was to be a concert pianist? And once, freshman year of college, before I had changed my plan, and in the midst of some very intense practice sessions, someone knocked me over at a roller rink (unintentionally) and then (someone else, I think) skated over my hands and I had a complete freak out thinking they had been permanently damaged? I'm fun in a freakout. You should have been there!

Here are my hands, through Mariko's eyes.

Remember when we went to Australia? Doesn't that seem like 100 years ago now? Not the best hot chocolate I've ever had, but love the photo.

That is a great photo. It sort of (okay, perhaps only due to the subject) reminds me of these beautiful sculptures at the Musée Rodin in Paris of hands.

(Also, for me, the creepiest part of the cadaver to dissect, after the skull, were the hands. There's something so personal about them.)

Great photo.

And hey, that Max Brenner just opened a huge store right by me. And I heard it wasn't all that good.

ohmyfreakingod. I was a classically trained pianist for over 15 years, and my biggest fear was that something was going to happen to my hands. Got fired from a high school job at McDonald's when I seriously burned my two fingers on my right hand and had a little meltdown. I think we are similar in more ways than name only. Ergh. Gotta expunge that memory now. . .
