I still haven't gotten much done but homework.
But I thought I'd share some pictures with you of a quilt my Grandma made.
It's a Dresden Plate, made in the early '70s, and lots of the fabrics are scraps from clothing she made herself and her kids. So my mom looks at it and sees "Oh there's some fabric from a dress I wore to X." And I look at it and see "Oh there's some fabric my Barbie had a dress made from!!!"
She pieced the desden circles/plates together, then appliqued them to the pink background, then she quilted each block individually (in a quilt-as-you-go method), outlining the plate edges and inner circle, before joining the blocks together with sashing/borders later.
Mom's had to do some repairs but it's in pretty good shape.
I really love that the plates are a combination of points and scallops instead of just one or the other. And that there's no actual pieced inner circle.
Isn't it beautiful? Yum-Yum likes it too.
And in other news, my evil mother dragged me to an AMAZING quilt store on Friday and believe me when I tell you only buying three pieces of fabric there was like having my left arm chopped off by an axe.
Sometimes you just find a store that panders so exactly to your taste and eye... IT'S A DANGEROUS THING.

that quilt is sooo sweet...
(and your mother is indeed cruel)
