« I have been quilting. (Piecing, actually.) | Main | School starts again tomorrow night (thank heavens). »
Well, the inevitable has happened.
Almost done with a quilt I was intending to give away as a gift...and I JUST CAN'T BEAR TO!!! I know!
(It's the quilt from the previous post. I've attached six more rows since that shot.)
But..but I gave the bride a tiny mini-quilt made from the same fabrics at her wedding shower so...what to do? Well, somehow what I am doing is using the VERY FEW strips of fabric I have left to make HUGE Ohio stars.
They are hilariously huge when you compare them to the Ohio Stars in the original quilt:
I have a little yardage in a couple of the brown fabrics from the original quilt that I had randomly bought on a separate shopping trip (in PDX actually) so I'm going to either make equally huge QST blocks to put between the stars...or maybe just big plain blocks of the prints. I haven't totally decided yet. I HOPE I can eke out a 60" quilt (or so). A great couch size but not quite bed size would be fine.
But this is what my friends will be getting instead and the Mystery Kit quilt of 6" squares will be staying home with me!!!! YAY!!!! So I've got to finish these up to have a quilt to give my friends...but that means I also almost have a new quilt made for me! The last time that happened was 2007! I'm due!! ;)

OH MAN, I am SO GLAD you came to your senses!!
you know... I had a feeling that was too 'you' to give away.
BUT those oversized blocks are fab (I'd go for plain blocks of print in between) and this 'new' quilt will be beautiful too!
that's such a great idea! you deserve to keep that gorgeous intricate quilt.
good for you! I think the big block quilt will be just as wonderful for your friends.
You are a good friend to even consider giving that quilt away. I am apparently a quilt whore because I rarely make them for others. I've only done two wedding quilts.
I'm glad you're keeping the mystery quilt for yourself, it's so beautiful. The colors are so you.
Yay!! I can't wait to see it!
very good decision indeed :) and lucky you are able to still come up with a great second quilt so fast! wow.
