Dress Obsessed.

Dress patterns I did not buy at Kinokuniya, but still took photos of to obsess over.

Dress patterns I DID buy (and also go look at Vogue 8468 which isn't shown here as it hasn't arrived yet but I did order it and it is the one I'm most excited about):

While it turns out I don't really have any winter-weight, brrrr weather dresses in my closet, I did make do yesterday with a recent final sale purchase from J. Crew:

I see much more dress wearing in my future. If I can actually get around to sewing them, that is.

Those are some good dresses, dude.

Indeed. I hope there's a lot more dress sewing in my future, too. (And I have finally admitted I have a real J. Crack, er...I mean Crew addiction.)

ah, to wear tights and knee-high boots and funky socks... i wasn't blessed with a dress/skirt body, so i'll live vicariously through you.

I love your outfit! The boots, the socks, and -- bien sur -- the dress! I think I'm still a couple months away from dresses, sadly. Or maybe I just need thicker tights.

ADORABLE! I did go to my local Joann and asked about the Vogue patterns (I bought the one we were looking for btw) and they will still be stocking them. WTF?!?!?

That second one down from the top is particularly awesome. You know Boden has a bunch of winter-weight dreses on the sale right now, yes?

I don't understand winter dress-wearing. Brrr. Frozen legs.

Posted by: claudia at February 4, 2008 04:05 PM

dear alison & claudia,

the ONLY part of me that was cold at all was my knees.

i was wearing: thick tights, a t-shirt, long underwear shorts (the most important ingredient - keeps top of legs from freezing), a slip, the j.crew dress, knee high thick socks (keeps bottom of legs from freezing), and when I went outside: my stadium squall (safe to -25F) jacket that reaches down below my knees (as well as mittens, scarf, hat on the way home).

that is the way to do winter dress wearing. knees just a bit chilly b/c the coat swings open a little when you walk. but given that it comes down below the knees, they still get some warmth from it.

and frankly, i'm willing to have cold knees to look goooood. ;)

They are all really cute. So easy all those would be to make. The only problem with sewing clothes is then I want someone to cut out the patterns for me ...sigh

That outfit is MAD CUTE! My currently frumpy feeling self is crazy jealous of your mad cute outfit.

omg, so cute. I will be able to make those one day. I can't wait to see what they look like!

you look super lovely girl - I am almost identical today except lack of funky socks. I LOVE knitted dresses! And I am loving ALL those dresses - need to get my sewing machine out again.....
