« No Nano pour Moi, tant pis pour toi. | Main | Merci beaucoup, mes peeps. »
If you use Bloglines, then you're probably not reading this post.
You may remember MONTHS AGO me deleting and then reinstating this blog at the same URL during a redesign. And somehow in the process, the title of the RSS file changed (why the new blog would NOT create an RSS with the same name? who knows. you may care but I don't).
I sent out emails to everyone I could think of (I apologize if I didn't think of you at the time, I do things haphazardly, don't you know) alerting people. Then a month later I sent out another one reminding people when I got questions about why I hadn't been blogging. I was blogging, but if you just used bloglines, it was still connecting to the "old" (nonexistent) blog so it looked like I hadn't posted since September 26.
Then two days ago someone emailed to say "OH! You're blogging? I'm signed up to the wrong feed I guess."
So I emailed bloglines and said "hey look, here you have 3 feeds for me; two of them DO connect to my blog (with different RSS files? who knows why? movable type is a mystery and I really don't care) with like 20 readers and this other one, with 70 readers, this does NOT connect to my blog, it connects to an old blog that doesn't exist anymore. Can you get rid of the bad one and transfer those 70 people to the correct one?"
They did me one better. THEY DELETED ALL THREE FEEDS. As far as I can tell, Bloglines is only connected to Snip on this site. And they continue to carry nonexistent RSS feeds to my former URL at pretty posies (how many years ago now? five?) and two random side blogs at that URL as well ("blythe" and "testah"). But none to this page.
Le sigh.
I just really don't care that much. If you have me as a friend on Ravelry, I find their "your friends blogs" page works just fine for me. Presumably other RSS readers like Google Reader will find me if you try.
I don't use bloglines or any of those myself because let's face it, I've got nothing but time. I go to each of your sites every day and hit refresh 100 times, either draft or actually send emails to you asking why you're not posting something for me to read, and then go back and hit refresh another 100 times in case you do it after I email you.
But if you're reliant on bloglines - well, I just don't know what to tell you. You can find me some other way, or you just won't and you won't be readin'. Bygones. But I've done all I'm going to do about it and it only made it worse.
You're on your own!

dude this totally came up in my Bloglines.
Yeah, I don't use bloglines either. Somehow I'd always felt it sucked the fun out of visiting blogs. However, now that I'm on Ravelry and using the "Friends' blogs" freature, I see the appeal. I'm SO MUCH BETTEr at keeping up with everyone this way. Although, you can't cheat on Ravelry (like you can on Bloglines) and never go to actually visit the blog.
I gave up Bloglines a long time ago and moved to Google Reader. It's MUCH better, and you always show up for me.
Came up in my bloglines too. Crazy.
Came up in my bloglines too. Crazy.
UH MAH GAH. I totally assumed that you just had gone over to Flickr and were taken a blog break. I am a major tard. I'm subscribing via newsgator RIGHT NOW.
Big le sigh..... I knew you did a reformat but not that it screwed up your feed. :(
I'm not consistent enough to run by everybody's blog every day, so I need Bloglines to keep track of what I haven't read yet. Yes, Google Reader rocks, but it doesn't translate my non-English blogs.
I'm so glad to hear you've been posting all these months, and not in some crafting whirlwind or funky mood that silenced your blog.
Please everyone, get on Google Reader! The best of reading "real" blogs, and using bloglines, combined in a better package than bloglines is ever going to be.
After I added a "Next" button to my toolbar, I click that and it sends me directly to the next updated blog. The REAL blog page, at that exact post, where I can comment immediately if I want to. And then if I reach the end of updated blogs that I subscribe to, Google tells me to go read a book. ;-)
Carolyn, sorry to hear about all of this hassle!
I always read you on bloglines and havent' had a problem...unless I've missed a bunch of stuff that I don't know about. :-)
I thought blogging was supposed to be fun, didn't you? Sounds like your trials with it has been anything but fun.
after reading those comments, I think I am gonna try google reader.
ok, I know I already commented, but this post showed up in my bloglines too. not to add further frustration... :)
I've been reading your recent posts from bloglines! Sorry you've had problems with them.
I just came here through Bloglines, spaz...
I'm so confused - when you sent that email I checked and all of your posts were appearing on bloglines fine without me changing the feed or anything, and this one came up too! I guess bloglines is just being a pig to you but I think we, your loyal readers, can see all the posts!
i sub to your atom feed via bloglines and it came up. which is why i'm here. so there! you are not alone!
I think Alison said it best...
hee, I saw it on Bloglines too. Although I did have to refresh my feed a few weeks ago because you weren't showing up.
Maybe I'll try Google Reader too...
sunufabitch!!!
I'm moving to Google Reader, no kidding. Thanks for the email! xo
Huh ? Always get your updates via bloglines. Computers = a complete mystery to me. I lost appleworks a while back. Just like that ! Can't find it anywhere. A mystery...
