January 31. What's today, I ask?
Today is PAY DAY. And by "pay day" I don't mean the day every two weeks or twice a month or once a month when you get your check and you pay your rent and la la la life goes on. By PAY DAY I mean $$$$$$BBBOOOOONUS$$$$$$$$$.
Yes, that one day every year when I get a check (or direct deposit, thankfully) that's HALF my salary (does that make sense to anyone not in this industry? i.e., my salary & my bonus are basically the same amount = add them together / divide that total in half / you get the same amount as each. hence my "bonus" is equivalently half my ACTUAL salary / or pretty much the same amount as my "base" pay all paid in one day rather than spread out in the year. believe me, you would rather get it spread out over the year), except with 50% taken out in taxes thanks to the lump sum distribution rules (Thanks again, and that will all be doing what, paying for the war in Iraq?).
Today I try to hate my job less than normal because it is after all PAY DAY. I don't succeed. But I try.
Now to start spending................

Woo-hoo! PAY DAY! It's payday for me too, although not quite as cool of a payday as yours. :)

Oh how I loved the bonuses in that soul destroying profession! Sure I sold my soul to the devil, but to be fair, they do pay well...
