So Christmas continues throughout the season here.
For as you MUST already be aware, the 12 days of Christmas actually STARTS on Christmas and goes until January 6, Epiphany, the day the Wise Men arrived.
And for some unknown reason I just got the urge to post on the blog all the same photos I just uploaded to Flickr. Ah well, a little repetition never hurt anyone.
Thus an awesome present just received:

There are holiday communiques still coming in:

And presents being prepared:

Photos are from Paris (Sacre Coeur and Hotel des Invalides) in May 2004, Chicago in February 2003 (before I moved here), and London (the British Museum) in December 2000. These may be late, but they'll probably arrive months before my gift is sent, so I still win! It's this thing in my family -- you only get presents on the day if you're there.
But my goodness, I forgot what a pain in the ass it is to cut your own mats. Three hours later and only five photos matted, but muchos garbagos all over the living room!

Never cut mats the evening AFTER your cleaning lady came is the real lesson here, isn't it!
p.s. I use Avedon to press the mat sandwich flat once the photos are inserted. Those $100 photo books make good presses!

Dude, you have a mat cutter?

yes I do. it works great and it must not have been that expensive as i've had it for years / it was definitely bought during "duff's time in poverty."

How is the learning curve with the mat cutter? I have one that I've never used. I also have a sky high pile of things to mat and frame.
Love the cram cream tape!

Holiday communiques are definitely still going to roll in in the coming weeks, since ours went out, um, yesterday, actually. My sons are still mighty impressed when we receive the Ms Carolyn card ALL THE WAY FROM AMERICA!! They just needed some time (and not-so-gentle prodding, I'm a bit of a stage mom when it comes to Christmas card art, it seems) to get their artwork together - it's on its way now :-)

The pictures and framing look great! Our family operates the same way, I'll get the presents from my dad sometime in early February, if I'm lucky.

See, I didn't even know one COULD cut one's own mats. Mmmmm.

Dude. Those pictures look amazing. I'm showing Jacob your matting skills - he will be v. impressed.

Your photos look amazing. I always marvel at how a photo turns into art with the addition of a mat and frame.
Is it just me, or does "cram cream" (on the tape) sound really dirty?

It looks like I missed a battle royale in that living room! Nice work tho - so it's worth it isn't it? I'd ask for some photos, but I'd hate to put you through that again.

Doh! I've been looking for that tape. I saw it once at a local store but they sold out quick. Should've bought them the first time I saw them.
