« Do not tell me I am fucking getting horrifically PUKINGLY sick. DO NOT, I said. NOT. | Main | So what'd'ya think? »
So all I ingested yesterday was saltines, ginger ale, and jello.
I'll leave the rest up to your imagination as UNLIKE SOME PEOPLE whose blogs I cannot even read, I don't view puke as interesting blog fodder.
Thus I must go back to the weekend for things to post.
Never go bowling in Milwaukee unless someone in your group knows how to keep score the old-school way!

Yes, sadly, I failed in my goal to break 70, one point short.
I'm currently reading "Special Topics in Calamity Physics" by Marisha Pessl. It's good, but not great. Highly referential to an almost unbearable point. Hard to tell if that's JUST supposed to be immaturity on the part of the narrator, or if it also signals some immaturity on the part of the author?
Nevertheless, I'll never be able to get rid of this book now that it bears these drawings on its end papers.

Drawn by Sam, age 8
And I came home with one more precious thing, the adorable note shoved under my door on Friday morning:

Would you like me to translate? (I had to ask too):
DEAR AT KRLAN (Dear Aunt Carolyn)
WN (when) WL (will) U (you) OKM (come) IT (out) AV (of) UO (your) ROM (room).
Ah, Zoey, you are such a sweetheart. Pretty good for someone who (out of those words) knew how to spell only "dear", don't ya think?

Hope you're feeling better. I've never seen such nicely embellished end papers. And Zoey sure is a sweetheart -- I'm sure what she really wanted to do was burst in and jump on you to make u okm it av ou rom.

Hey! I got the Pessl for my birthday from my sister, and I haven't been able to get to it yet (typing!). I'm sorta dreading it, and you're not helping! :-)
Bugger about the sickness. Get well soon.

Super cute kids, thanks for sparing the nasty illness details, but I do really hope you feel better soon man.

Oh no! Hope you're eating better soon, although I do love jello and ginger ale.
Zoey spells just like my son. Must be a five year old thing. Crazy kids.

I've been carrying Calamity Physics around with me...but I can't get past the use of "preturnaturally" in the description of the protagonist on the cover. It's just so fucking mannered, you know?

Get well soon! The love of little munchkins has to make you feel better, so sweet!

Feel better soon, darlin'.

Next year at Rhinebeck, we're totally going bowling. I hope you feel better soon.

Wish my drawings were that interesting. :) Feel better!

I just finished Sharp Objects based on your recommendation and started Calamity Physics but put it down because I wasn't in the mood. I might give it another chance but more than likely not.
I hope you feel better!

I just started reading that last night -- not very far in yet but so far I'm liking it. At least partly because it's so different from the other book I'm reading (Blindness). Alas, mine is a library one so no nice endpapers like yours...

You have another Mary that comments on your blog. I guess that means I have to differentiate myself. This happens somewhat frequently in my life - I was called Mary Mac by all of my teachers in elementary school to keep me separate from Mary Columbo.
My niece and nephew never waste time with notes. In fact, the generally sneak into my bed sometime in the night and in the morning say things like, "It's okay. I was just kicking you to wake you up." But this doesn't give me keepsakes, only bruises.
Finished Pacey. Cried my eyes out and watched it twice - back to back.
I hope you feel better. I'd bring you soup if I lived near you.

Thanks for the translation and the fantastic drawings. Reminded me that kids actually fun sometimes. Hope you feel better soon.

it's obvious that the kids are geniuses.

I've been reading that book lately, too. Biggest disappointment: 175 pages in, and still no physics. WTF?
