In which I get free money, odd compliments, and am very cold.

November is a three-check month.

To someone on a two-check "budget", that's music to my ears. FREE MONEY. To top it off, I've already maxed out on 401K, social security and some other random contributions. So my checks for Nov & Dec are for larger amounts than during the rest of the year. MORE FREE MONEY. I'm starting to feel a little delirious.

Free money = dangerously exhilarating!

People say the weirdest things.

Two "compliments" I recently received:

1) "Some day you are going to make a really really good stepmom." (This was said very very sincerely by someone who loves me and was clearly meant to be a compliment.)

My reply (that I did say): "What on earth makes you think I would date a boy with fucking kids?"

2) "You and Sashi are kind of alike; very gruff on the exterior, but secretly behind the scenes you do really really sweet things for people."

My reply (that I did not say): No more iPods for you, girlfriend! Ha!

Odd compliments = strangely disconcerting.

I realize it's not the dead of winter, people, but you could put the fucking heat on.

The temp outside yesterday was supposedly between 37 (morning & night) and 47 (midday), but with the windchill (the wind was nutso yesterday) it felt about 17 at the most.

Yesterday morning cab = no heat. Driver leaving window open up front.

Last night at Allstate Arena = three hour concert. NO HEAT. Never took my coat off all night. Helloooo I was wearing a snowboarding jacket, not some leather blazer or something.

This morning cab = such a chill breeze I kept wondering if my door was open (not) or the window (not) or perhaps the air conditioning was even on (perhaps).

I am fucking chilled to the bone, people. Where is a boy to warm me up?

Hmn. Interesting about the temperature. It was 20 celsius here yesterday, which is, oh, about 68 in your temps. Ridiculous! It did rain though, and I had sweep to the garden because it's full of leaves (it still being officially fall), so I got wet. But still prolly much more relaxed than frigid taxis.

That is the weirdest thing to say, the thing about being a stepmom. The hell? Michelle doesn't understand.

My mom said that to me once - that someday I was going to be a great stepmother.

I was like - What? And also, fuck you very much.

Gruff exterior, nah I don't see that one. The good stepmom one, that's just weird since your "goodness" would depend on the children not being devil-spawn. Of course I have no children or pets so this observation is just an intellectual enterprise. As for the cab drivers, I can only assume they were men and men are never cold.

I miss 3-check months. Stupid monthly paycheck, trying to make me keep a budget or something.

It's still summer here, what I wouldn't give right now for temps in the 30s.

Oh Crap!! Now I really have to leave a comment! Let me try again - just wanted to convey to my favourite cousin how she always does incredibly nice things for people and really looks out for her family and friends, and although I don't know Sashi that well the same goes for him. I'm not even going to try and explain by what I meant to convey by "gruff" for fear of digging myself deeper into my hole ( can I just pretend that its a UK expression that got lost in translation??). I really must work on compliment giving skills... (and not just to get another i-pod ;)

i think you also said "you both have very tough exteriors"... :)

I am always happy to know that someone out there is as cranky about being cold as I am. Thank youn for the inadvertant moral support!

Like riding in cabs isn't already an ick experience. What is wrong with these people? Have fun with the freeeeeeee money!

Got your comment on the CD trade. I mixed you up with another friend of mine who reads my blog. She's probably very confused about the email I sent her yesterday. Anyway, send me an email at poohba(at)yahoo(dot)com and we can make arrangements. Thanks!
