Crafty Girl Is Crafty

As the school semester has started, my crafting time will diminish more and more each week. But things are slower at first so I've been trying to whip through some stuff.

I finished and sent off a hat to my friend Kai's baby girl, knit from some handspun gifted to me by Amy:

Hat for a Baby Girl

I started a very flapper-esque hat for his wife, knit from ear to ear around the head:

Oh! So! Coy!

I started a cowl for a Post Holidaze Swap I signed up for (eek, supposed to be done by Valentine's Day!):

I busted my butt finishing up all my homework for the week on Friday and Saturday so I could devote Sunday purely to quilting. And OH did I ever.

I finished one of the two quilt tops I'm trying to wrap up. Didn't take a picture of the finished top but it looks like this except the stars are NOT cropped (I just had to lay the blocks over each other as my design wall is smaller than this quilt):

Or maybe the paisley doesn't like to blend as well with the others, so this might be better?

I finished that yesterday and started work on the back RIGHT AWAY so I could get it basted last night... Hahahahahaha. The Quilting Gods got a good laugh out of that one because I had decided I wanted the back to be one gigantic Ohio star. But first I cut the QSTs too small...sewed them together, huh, these are too small. Hmmmm. Then I made them hilariously too big and wound up having to cut them down by 6 inches (those 6 inch borders you see around the star came handily out of those cuts). FINALLY I got my act together and Ta-Da!!

Now THAT's an Ohio Star, PEOPLE.

Isn't it glorious? Won't this be a wonderful quilt?

I'm planning to quilt it in one-way diagonal lines...but I may change my mind and do a grid...with some variegated purple thread I bought a few years ago and then it'll be bound in a marble-ish dark brown (i.e., not quite a solid, similar to those moda marbles).

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee. Lots of stuff underway.

But I have two classes on Monday, a crazy pile of dishes to tackle, and some school emails that MUST get written. Later, peeps!

That is INCREDIBLE. Hats off for doing the top and back. I love it, especially the crispness of Ohio stars.
