Things I am thinking about right now include:

{two hundred fifty-six}

Ice cream sandwiches.
Snickers.
Knee socks.
Stress-induced vertigo.
Stress-induced insomnia.
English breakfast tea.
Fat pants.
Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks.
My couch.
My bed.
Going home.
Giving up.
Carrying on.
Swimming.
The weird zit I got in the middle of my very very red rosacea cheek today.

Do with it what you will.

In other news, here is a conversation between me and a third grader during lunch the other day:

3G: So you're observing us because you want to be a teacher?
Me: Yes, that's right. I'm taking classes on how to teach and coming in to watch you guys and see how things work in the classroom.
3G: How old are you?
Me: 42.
3G: 42?!?!?!?! AND YOU WANT TO BECOME A TEACHER NOW?!?!?!?

This was shouted so loud it echoed throughout the cafeteria. Kids. They always set you straight.

Well, if it's any consolation, I'm right behind you and still don't know what the #$%^ I want to do with my life. Also, that's a really cool photo.

Love that! When I was in school, I did an internship at a little preschool set in a house on the outskirts of Amherst. On my first day, the director encouraged me to just make myself comfortable and observe how the mornings usually unfolded. I took a seat at one of the low children's work tables and as the kids arrived over a short period, they drifted to different areas before the activities began. One little boy sat down next to me on another little chair and asked what I was doing there. 'I'm going to be coming to school two days a week for a while', I answered. He thought for a minute and then, leaning in closely, asked, quietly, 'Don't you know this is just for little kids?'

Don't mind the little "treasure". All my best teachers had life experience.
