Rough Week.
So if you read the papers and are aware of my "secondary browsing location", then you may have some idea the kind of stressful days I've had this week. Not pretty. [And let's NOT discuss it in the comments to this post, capisce? Thanks.]
What's a girl to do when she finds herself in times of trouble... Well, if those times happen to coincide with getting phone calls from old friends, a girl doesn't really have to do much!
Thank you to Beth, one of my two best friends from college (and hello we graduated from college ALMOST TWENTY YEARS AGO!), who called me first just for a (too long coming) chat filling me in on the news about her FIVE (yes five) kids and the new house and the upcoming vacation plans and the whatnot. And then calling me back a week later to totally give me shit for what I wrote up about her in one of our college newsletters. (Hey, if she was too busy to submit an update herself, she should've known what could happen!)
Thank you to my friend Steven, who "found" me on a networking site and called to give me all kinds of goodnatured crap. I'm so glad we've never stopped being friends because clearly we are still friends even if we haven't known how to contact each other for several years if we can pick up the phone again and still have a zillion things to say without a single awkward pause.
Thank you to my friend Barbara for lots of reading recommendations (Alex Espinosa, Tom Holt, John Courtney Grimwood). It's been too long since we talked books, girl!
What's better than phone calls? Hellloooo, visits! Yay!
