What a long, strange trip it's been.

When I say I almost died twice on the way home for Christmas, I'm not kidding in the slightest. There were 35 car wrecks in Minneapolis that Saturday, resulting in NINE DEATHS and many other accidents. I fortunately did not make it all the way to Minneapolis that day, pulling off the road in Eau Claire in tears, missing out on meeting up with Amanda and not making my way home until midday Monday from a trip that technically started on Friday afternoon. The drive back was no fun either and also resulted in a "no more! NO MORE!" unexpected hotel room stay.

Now I am home with lovely Christmas presents, and a zillion dollars in new quilting fabric (a major shopping spree at Bay Window in Perham, MN, one of my top 3 quilt shops of all-time [Hancock's of Paducah is #1 and Gruber's in St. Cloud MN is tied with Bay Window for #2]) and all ready to ring in the New Year. If by "ring in" one certainly does NOT mean "go out and drink with crazy people you neither know nor like".

Beth Cherry has decided on her "slogan" (or motto, if you will) for 2008. I'm working on mine. I'm certainly more a motto girl than a "resolutions" girl. I prefer Rodney's (Heidi's hubbo) type of resolutions; his 2003? 4? resolution was "to learn to vulcan mind meld." My goal of 2007 was: to find a pair of jeans that looked cute on my butt. Presumably that was achieved although I guess it's like beauty and all in the eye of the beholder isn't it.

Wish we could quilt together on NYE - that's one of my plans. I started another yesterday!

So glad you weren't hurt.

I'm glad you stopped. Happy New Year!

Glad to hear you weren't hurt. Can't believe it?! Nine deaths? Sheesh...although I guess with the way people drive in Minneapolis in the snow it's not *that* surprising. You'd think in a city that gets as much as snow as it does, people would learn how to drive better in it? Guess not...

I wondered whether you had gotten caught in that. Sucks.

What is that picture of?

Yikes, that brings back memories of driving 20 mph on I-94 with zero visibility convinced I was going to get stuck in a drift. Glad you made it there and back. I miss it when you don't post even the snips!

That's crazy, I remember a similar trip through Michigan years ago. It was very scary and I showed up in the middle of the night, everyone had thought I had been killed on the road.
