Thursday night deadlines are really working for me.

Just in time to deliver to his dad, I finished Emmett's quilt, otherwise known as Curious George 2. Here you see it on the floor of my "secondary browsing location" where I had a hard time finding a good angle.

Same panel blocks and the "interior" fabrics are duplicates of the ones used in CG1. However instead of secondary fabrics, I sashed with blue.

And instead of ladybugs, the backing is googly-eyed fish. GOOGLY-EYED FISH!!!

For the first time, I completely free-handed the meandering. It was kinda scary, things were kinda getting away from me. And while it looks great in some places, in others it's either a) herky jerky and weird or b) the stitches are way too big. Argh!

But presumably it'll get better every time and I did give them a repair guarantee should any of the stitches pop.

Emmett's dad is not only one of my best friends in Chicago but he is the most enthustiastic father I've ever met. I hope they like it! They're definitely not crafty people!

How awesome is that - the googly-eyed fish fabric is called "sassy sealife"!!! ;)

OK now I'm going to go be in craft withdrawal for a couple days because unlike some people I am physically & mentally unable to start (or go back to) another project immediately after finishing one. I need a breather.

Ooh! I love it! Googly eyed fish are the best! PLEASE take a break as I'm sure your hands and wrists are frozen into the shape of lobster claws by now!

Oh wow! Love this quilt, especially the fishy backing. Where did you find that fabric?

I too am suffering from a little craft burn out. My wrists are killing me.

Googly-eyed fish! Love it!

I wanted to name one of my sons Emmett, but couldn't because my husband's parents already had a cat by that name. And I covet that googly eyed fish fabric like crazy. My first had two quilts made for him--both rather conventional and pastel and unexciting. Goddess bless you crazy craft women and your beautiful, non-pastel works.

that is crazy cute! I love it. the backing is super. and so is your quilting. good for you!!! the free motion quilting does get easier. and if you stick with it long enough it actually becomes fun! I love that you are giving it with a repair guarantee. you are too funny.

Dude!! I love all your projects but I esp. love the Curious George quilts--- and there are not enough words to describe the joy of seeing googly eyed fish as the backing. Googley Eyed Fish!!
WOW.... adorable (imagine the french accent !! : )

They will LOVE it, I know it. I have such a soft spot in my heart for Curious George. The CG doll I got when I was five stood by my side until I went to college. Loved that George.
